(Natural News) German researchers are now warning of a future “ecological Armageddon and a collapse of the food chain” after discovering a steep drop-off in flying insect populations. Over the last thirty years, scientists say insect numbers have declined by nearly 80 percent in Germany alone. Their studies of the rapidly dwindling insect populations within nature reserves have sparked fears that the entire ecosystem will collapse — and the food chain as we know it would fall, as well.
Indeed, if the population of insects in protected areas has declined at such a disturbing pace, it’s hard to imagine how insects across the rest of the world have fared. At least one member of the research team believes that pesticides are driving down insect numbers, according to the Daily Mail.
Caspar Hallmann from Radboud University, located in The Netherlands, and his colleagues authored study, which was recently published in the journal PLOS ONE on October 18. Their findings seem to fall in line with other reports of falling insect numbers, such as the massively concerning decrease in bee populations.
Over the course of 27 years, Hallmann and his team used Malaise traps to measure total insect biomass at 63 different nature protection areas. What they learned was that the average total flying insect biomass has decreased by an average of 76 percent in the last three decades — with the decline reaching a peak of 82 percent in midsummer.
Hallmann commented, “Since 1989, in 63 nature reserves in Germany the total biomass of flying insects has decreased by more than 75 percent. This decrease has long been suspected but has turned out to be more severe than previously thought.”
The researchers found that this steep decline was evident regardless of where the habitat was or what characteristics the area had — and changes in land use, weather and other variables could not explain the decline in full. In other words, something else is at play. While the research team did not come to any conclusions on that front, it was posited that pesticides could be to blame. And truly, the entire purpose of pesticides is to kill bugs and other, so-called, pests. Is anyone actually surprised to learn that these chemical killers are destroying insect populations?
A recent study confirmed that pesticides had a negative impact on bee populations, killing both worker bees and their queens indiscriminately. Neonicotinoid pesticides, or neonics for short, were to found to kill at least 25 percent of exposed bees. Neonics are more likely to be lethal to insects, like bees, than other creatures like birds or mammals. But, their potential impact on the ecosystem is no less concerning; as sources report, neonics can have a grievous effect on honeybees. And if bees are killed off, our entire ecosystem could go down the tubes, too. Bees, and many other insects, are essential to the pollination process — and without them, our food supply would be greatly affected.
Recent research has also shown that the harms of pesticides can be felt even in infinitesimal amounts; insect infertility can be seen even at low levels of exposure to the chemicals. Biologists at Bielefeld University found that lea beetles laid 35 percent fewer eggs after being exposed to just a tiny amount of pyrethroid — a type of pesticide. It was also noted that female offspring developed abnormalities thanks to their parents’ pesticide exposure.
Dozens of studies have pointed to the harms of pesticides, yet almost nothing is being done to stop their overly prevalent use. Will the world wake up before its too late? [Related: Learn more about the ill effects of pesticides at Pesticides.news.]

Papaya leaf juice successfully used for anemia, viral infections and overall good blood health

Papaya leaf juice successfully used for anemia, viral infections and overall good blood health

papaya-leaf-juice(NaturalHealth365) For thousands of years, herbal medicine extracted from herbs and plants (like papaya) has been a key pillar of Ayurvedic (Indian), Chinese, European and Native American medicine – not to mention a host of other traditional medicine systems.
And while medicine as a field has evolved and many of these herbal remedies have gone mainstream – extracted, processed, packaged, patented and marketed as drugs – ‘alternative medicine’ is certainly still alive and well.
One plant that has served as a popular source of herbal medicine over the centuries is the Carica papaya. Different parts of the papaya plant have long been used as ingredients in folk medicine, including the fruit itself, the dried version of it, seeds, leaves, dried leaves, as well as the roots. These have all been used as treatment for a wide range of diseases, and now there appears to be another breakthrough.

Is papaya a panacea for viral disease?

It was back in 2009 when researchers at the Asian Institute of Science and Technology first established that papaya leaf juice for low platelet count works effectively for patients suffering from dengue fever.
Dengue fever is a viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes and affects millions globally, and one of its major symptoms is thrombocytopenia, a medical term for low platelet count. As with almost every other study, the initial research was conducted on mice, comparing papaya leaf to a placebo.
The researchers found that the papaya leaf suspension contributed to a significant increase in the animals’ platelet count.

Papaya leaf juice for low platelet count in humans

This was later replicated in a human case in 2011, where a liquid extract of papaya leaves was shown to significantly raise the level of platelets in a patient suffering from Dengue fever in as little as five days.
The Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine Volume 2013 (2013), Article ID 61673 also revealed some key findings in April of 2013.
The report showed that consumption of Carica papaya leaf juice accelerated a rapid increase in the platelet count among patients suffering from dengue fever (Grade 1 and 2), as well as in patients suffering from the more severe (and fatal) dengue hemorrhagic fever.
This followed a randomized controlled trial by the Institute for Medical Research and the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital which involved 228 patients at the hospital. Half were subjected to standard treatment, while the other half administered with a small dose of fresh Carica papaya juice (50gm), for three consecutive days.
The experimental group was observed to have a significant increase in platelet count (after the three-day period) compared to those in the control group.
More recently in 2016, the Journal of the Association of Physicians of India officially declared that dengue fever patients who consume the leaf extract from the Carica papaya plant can increase their platelet count considerably. This was after carrying out a study to test an Ayurvedic preparation of the leaf juice.
The June 2016 edition of the journal also carried the findings of two studies that reinforced the argument that papaya leaf juice for low platelet count indeed is an effective cure for patients suffering from dengue fever. One study was placebo-controlled and comprised 300 patients spread across five centers in Bengaluru, while the second study involved 400 patients in the Indian city of Jaipur.
The results were so convincing that the doctors went as far as to write an editorial appreciating the two randomized studies.

IMPORTANT information about a low platelet count

It would be remiss to talk about platelets and fail to mention what exactly constitutes a low platelet count.
A healthy or normal platelet count is between 150,000 and 450,000 platelets per every micro liter of blood. When the platelets in an individual fall below this level, it results to a condition referred to as thrombocytopenia (too many platelets is thrombocytosis).
Platelets are blood cells which literally resemble small plates and their core function is to help in blood clotting. Their lifespan averages between five and nine days, with the platelet count (and size) differing between healthy males and healthy females, according to the European Journal of Hematology.

What are the causes of a low platelet count?

The causes of thrombocytopenia can be due to a plethora of factors.  It could be that the bone marrow is not making enough platelets, the causes of which can be varied. Might be due to some types of anemia; probably leukemia.
Viral infections, like HIV, are also established causes – along with chemotherapy drugs and exposure to toxic chemicals. In addition, it might be due to a deficiency of essential vitamins like B12, or even excessive consumption of alcohol.
The bone marrow could also be making enough platelets but the body either uses them up or destroys them.
Another common cause of low platelet count is that the spleen, a body organ that holds about one-third of platelets in a healthy person, might be holding too many platelets than it should – which can be linked to a severe liver disease or even cancer.
And, finally, another cause is related to increased platelet breakdown, and this can be induced by factors such as autoimmune diseases, bacterial infection in the blood, pregnancy, reaction to medicines or other health problems.

What are our treatment options?

Thrombocytopenia can be treated in a number of ways, depending on the level of severity. Examples of available treatment options include addressing the underlying cause of the low platelet count, blood transfusion, over-the-counter and prescribed medicines, or plasma exchange in cases of medical emergency.
Natural remedies come in two shapes. One is by eating a diet comprised of foods known to boost platelet count. These are foods mostly rich in vitamins; four types of vitamins to be exact – Vitamin B12, folate (Vitamin B9), Vitamin A, and Vitamin K.
Using papaya leaf juice for low platelet count is the other potential natural option which has been shown through multiple studies to be effective. This could be administered in either of two ways.
One is through homemade extraction, either by juicing or blending the papaya leaves, or boiling the leaves to make papaya leaf tea. The second way is to go for natural, organic supplements from established sources, and these could come in several forms, most notable being tablets, capsules, or a papaya leaf syrup.

A final word …

Papaya leaf juice for low platelet count has successfully passed the three stages of research: the first involving lab tests on rats, followed by experiments on human beings, and thirdly, experiments on human control groups.
Suffice to say it is safe for human use as a therapeutic agent for boosting low platelet count. However, it is worth noting that this herbal treatment remains a potential candidate for further research.
This is because even in the cases where studies have culminated in very successful results such as the 2016 study in India, the editors have acknowledged that more needs to be done in terms of larger trials before the treatment can be declared a ‘standard treatment’ – at least with regard to treatment of dengue fever.
What also needs further research is the toxicity of the papaya leaf extract among different individuals. It has been shown to have low toxicity in an animal model, but this is a subject yet to be delved into deeply where humans are concerned.
This is why we advise consulting with a professional healthcare provider before you start using papaya leaf juice for low platelet count.

Old fashioned baking soda found to be the most effective at removing pesticide residue

Fresh produce such as fruits and vegetables may require more than the traditional under-the-faucet rinsing as toxic pesticides may linger. However, a study published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry has revealed that the humble baking soda might just be the perfect solution to rid the produce of harmful pesticides. A team of researchers at the University of Massachusetts has carried out a study on gala apples in order to assess baking soda’s efficacy in cleaning the fruits.

As part of the study, the research team has applied two common pesticides thiabendazole and phosmet to organic gala apples. Thiabendazole is a fungicide that has been previously noted for its capacity to penetrate apple peels. Phosmet is a popular insecticide, the experts say. The scientists have then washed the contaminated apples with three different liquids, which include: tap water, a one percent baking soda/water solution, and a commercial bleach solution approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. The commercial bleaching solution is the most commonly used liquid in cleaning produce.

The results have revealed that both the tap water and the commercial bleach solution did not show efficacy in removing the pesticides from the apples even after washing the fruits for up to two minutes. However, the researchers have observed that the baking soda solution has been highly effective in eliminating the toxic chemicals. According to the study, the baking soda solution helped remove 80 percent of the thiabendazole from the apples after 12 and 15 minutes. Likewise, the scientists have noted that the baking soda solution has eliminated 96 percent of the phosmet during the same period.

According to the researchers, the stark difference in chemical removal may be due to thiabendazole’s greater absorption. Data from mapping images have revealed that thiabendazole has penetrated the apples up to 80 micrometers deep, while phosmet has been able to do so at a depth of only 20 micrometers. Baking soda solutions that help remove unwanted pesticides

An article posted on the Do It Yourself website features two baking soda solutions that may serve as natural cleaning agents for fresh fruits and vegetables. These mixtures include:

  • Baking soda and white vinegar – The article suggests preparing about one and a half cups of water in a pan, then adding one cup of white vinegar and about one tablespoon of baking soda. The article also recommends adding 20 drops of grapefruit seed extract to the solution and have the mixture transferred to a spray bottle. The solution can be used on any fruit or vegetable including spinachlettuce, and broccoli.
  • Baking soda and lemon juice – The article also recommends mixing one tablespoon of lemon juice and two tablespoons of baking soda that are then diluted in one cup of water. The produce can be soaked in the solution for up to a few minutes and then rinsed thereafter.

Likewise, the entry lists other natural methods in eliminating pesticides. According to the article, people may use a sea salt solution — made from one teaspoon of fine sea salt diluted in a cup of water — to soak vegetables such as lettuce and cabbage between five and 10 minutes before rinsing with running water. Moreover, the article recommends adding a few teaspoons of common dishwashing liquid to a large bowl of water where fruits can be swished around for a few minutes and rinsed thereafter.

India tosses out Gates Foundation due to conflicts of interest with Big Pharma

India tosses out Gates Foundation due to conflicts of interest with Big Pharma

Image: India tosses out Gates Foundation due to conflicts of interest with Big Pharma
In the U.S., many look to him as a benevolent humanitarian simply trying to save the world from communicable disease. But in India, billionaire software guru Bill Gates has basically been told to get the hell out the country now that he and his wife Melinda’s infamous foundation has been exposed as nothing more than a vaccine-pushing fraud directly tied to Big Pharma.
India’s National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) announced recently that it is officially cutting ties with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. This announcement comes after it was shown that so-called vaccine “campaigns” conducted on tens of thousands of young girls throughout India back in 2009-2010 that were meant to help protect them from cervical cancer were actually cloaked vaccine trials involving two highly controversial vaccines known to injure and kill.
The vaccines in question are Cervarix by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and Gardasil by Merck & Co., both of which are marketed as protecting against the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is claimed to have a link to cervical cancer. Both vaccines come with extreme side effects, and evidence shows that GSK and Merck essentially teamed up with the Gates Foundation to take advantage of young Indian girls and use them as human guinea pigs in trials of the two vaccines.
According to independent journalists, these trials resulted in thousands of injuries and hundreds of deaths that were eventually traced back to the two vaccines. Once news of this got back to Indian authorities, an investigation was launched that landed the Gates Foundation in court for serious ethical violations. Economic and Political Weekly, which led the investigation, says that the Gates Foundation ban is unquestionably necessary due to “…the promotional practices of drug companies, pressure from powerful international organizations, and the co-option of, and uncritical endorsement by India’s medical associations are influencing the country’s public health priorities.”

Bill Gates guilty of committing serious crimes against humanity?

Backing these claims are several whistleblowers from the Indian non-governmental women’s organization Sama, which brought before authorities considerable evidence showing that young women were taken advantage of by Bill Gates and his cronies, who illegally injected dangerous vaccines into them without proper consent or even full disclosure as to what was being dispensed into their bodies.
Besides receiving the dangerous vaccines, these same women were forced to submit copies of their fingerprints to government authorities, a coercive effort that only further indicts the Gates Foundation for human rights violations involving some of the most vulnerable members of the global population.
“The Centre has shut the gate on the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on a critical national health mission, and possible conflict of interest issues arising from the foundation’s ‘ties’ with pharmaceutical companies is one of the reasons,” reports the Economic Times of India.
“All financial ties of the country’s apex immunization advisory body, National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI), with the Gates Foundation have been cut off.”
Because India’s national health program has not been completely infiltrated by vaccine-pushing, drug-hawking eugenicists like Bill and Melinda Gates, various arms of its sub-agencies were able to support this decision and make it a reality. It took five years of battling with India’s Supreme Court, but ultimately it was all worth it because, for once, the globalists have lost a major avenue for pushing their agenda of death and destruction.
“We welcome this move by the government,” Ashwani Mahajan, a co-convener of the Swadeshi Jagaran Manch (SJM) platform that successfully eradicated this entity of “economic imperialism,” told Economic Times of India, who wants to see India continue to reject this type of foreign infiltration. “We have always said foreign influence in our domestic policies in any way must be avoided.”

Vitamin C deficient stem cells more likely to turn into leukemia

Vitamin C deficient stem cells more likely to turn into leukemia

vitamin-c-therapy(NaturalHealth365) According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 23,564 people lost their lives to leukemia in 2014 alone. The most common form of cancer among children and teens, leukemia also strikes adults – especially as they age. Unfortunately, to make matters worse, none of these patients probably heard about how vitamin C could help in the healing process.
For example, new research shows that insufficient levels of vitamin C can make you more susceptible to leukemia. The good news: boosting your dietary intake of the nutrient can help prevent it. Plus, this type of strategy offers no (negative) side effects and the cost is minimal.

How vitamin C “puts the brakes on” leukemia

In a study conducted at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and published in the peer-reviewed scientific journal Nature, researchers found that vitamin C helped to slow the development of leukemia by re-activating an enzyme that stops leukemia cell from growing and spreading.
The new research helps to reveal the nuts and bolts of the way vitamin C – or ascorbic acid – assists the function of stem cells – which need large amounts of this nutrient to function properly.
The researchers reported that when stem cells are depleted of vitamin C, their epigenome – the cellular system that controls which genes are turned off or on – is damaged, thereby impairing stem cell function and raising the risk of leukemia.
In addition, deficiencies in vitamin C can limit levels of TET2, a beneficial enzyme that helps stem cells do what they were designed to do: mature, make white blood cells, and then die off. TET2 mutations can cause this lifesaving enzyme to become inactive, leading to uncontrollable cell division – in which the cells neither mature properly nor die at the proper time.
This inactivation of TET2 is an early step in the development of leukemia.
But, optimal levels of vitamin C can re-activate the gene and the enzyme it produces – thereby slowing the spread of leukemia. Having optimal levels of vitamin C, the researchers noted, allows patients to “maximize” remaining TET2 tumor-suppressor activity.
The researchers noted that getting enough vitamin C is especially vital for older individuals with clonal hematopoiesis, a form of “pre-leukemia.” Patients with this condition often have a TET2 mutation as well.
TET2 mutations currently account for 42,500 cancers yearly within the United States. Fifty percent of patients with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia, 30 percent with “pre-leukemia” and 10 percent with acute myeloid leukemia have TET2 disorders.

More good news about vitamin C and its cancer-fighting properties

In a related study published in Cell, researchers genetically engineered mice to have variable TET2 function – and found that reducing TET2 activity by 50 percent could induce cancer. The good news was that six months of daily high-dose vitamin C genetically restored TET2 – turning the gene “on” again – which not only stopped leukemia cells from reproducing, but also killed them outright.
The same study demonstrated that vitamin C substantially improved the effectiveness of pharmaceutical cancer drugs known as PARP inhibitors.
Lead study author Dr. Benjamin Neel, Ph.D., praised vitamin C as a “promising treatment” for cancer, and expressed his hope that high-dose vitamin C might become a “safe treatment for blood diseases caused by TET2 deficient leukemia cells, most likely in combination with other targeted therapies.”
The dosages used in the study would translate to 300,000 milligrams if adapted for humans – an amount that is impossible to obtain orally. However, many integrative cancer clinics (worldwide) offer intravenous high-dose therapies.

How much more evidence is needed?

Researchers have reported that vitamin C works as a pro-oxidant in cancer cells, depleting stores of the antioxidant glutathione and causing oxidative stress and death in cancer cells. It also impairs glycolysis, the process that produces energy in cell mitochondria.
Yet, mainstream medicine continues to ignore vitamin C therapy – in the face of emerging studies that show its merits.
For example, other research has shown that high-dose vitamin C substantially decreases inflammation in cancer patients, reducing pro-inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein.
Yet another recent study showed that vitamin C outperformed an FDA-approved clinical drug, along with various experimental medications.
And, clinical studies show that high-dose vitamin C can improve quality of life in cancer patients – while suppressing symptoms of fatigue, nausea, vomiting, pain and appetite loss. Extensive animal studies have shown that high-dose vitamin C treatment blocks tumor growth in pancreatic, liver, prostate and ovarian cancers.
Yet – unlike toxic chemotherapy drugs – vitamin C leaves healthy cells unharmed, leading the National Cancer Institute to publicly acknowledge that intravenous high-dose vitamin C has caused “very few side effects in clinical trials.”
One wonders: what more will it take for the medical community to recognize high-dose vitamin C as a safe, natural and inexpensive therapy for cancer?

Sufficient levels of vitamin C are of paramount importance in preventing cancer

Low levels of vitamin C are associated with numerous health conditions (aside from cancers.) These ailments include high blood pressure, gallbladder disease, stroke, atherosclerosis – to name just a few health issues.
Many Integrative healthcare providers maintain that the recommended daily amounts – currently advised by the Institutes of Medicine – are woefully inadequate. Some holistic practitioners recommend supplementing with vitamin C to the tune of 10,000 to 12,000 mg a day. (Of course, you should never undertake this without first consulting with a knowledgeable healthcare provider).
You can boost your dietary vitamin C intake by consuming healthy amounts of whole, organic foods such as bell peppers, kiwi, grapefruit, strawberries, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and broccoli. For maximum benefit, eat these foods raw, or only slightly cooked.
For supplementation, many experts suggest the use of liposomal vitamin C – especially for people looking to avoid bowel intolerance issues.  The vitamin is contained in sub-microscopic bubbles, or liposomes, which make it possible for the nutrient to travel through the GI tract undamaged, then to the liver via the lymphatic system – after which it is metabolized and released into the bloodstream.
This exciting new study clearly highlights the importance of optimal vitamin C status. With ever-increasing amounts of environmental toxins and harmful microwave radiation surrounding us, getting enough vitamin C is an important investment in your health, and one that can pay enormous dividends.
